Passing the Torch for the 20th NBW Celebration in 2024

The 19th National Biotech Week (NBW) Celebration came to a vibrant conclusion with the closing ceremony hosted by Mr. Jerome Cayton C. Barradas.

The ceremony kicked off with a doxology and the singing of the national anthem led by the University of San Carlos. A special video message from Congressman Mark O. Cojuangco of Pangasinan, a notable advocate for biotechnology, was also featured to inspire the participants. After that, Dr. Claro N. Mingala shared insightful words with the attendees, setting the stage for a memorable afternoon.

The University of San Carlos wowed the audience with a special performance that seamlessly blended traditional and contemporary art forms then a recap of the week-long events and activities that had taken place during the celebration was also presented, highlighting the success of the NBW.

Plaques of appreciation were awarded to deserving individuals and organizations who had shown their support throughout the celebration. Dr. Mingala passed on the chairmanship to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the 20th NBW Celebration, with Dr. Maura Consol acion D. Cristobal in attendance. Atty. Cinderella Filipina S. Benitez-Jaro graciously accepted the chairmanship through a video message, signaling a promising future for biotechnology in the Philippines.

The closing ceremony concluded with Cebu Technological University leading the exit of colors, marking the end of a successful 19th NBW Celebration. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will take the helm as the next Inter-agency Steering Committee Chair for the upcoming NBW events.
