Program Components

The five components of the Program are as follows:

  1. Biotechnology Research and Development (BRD) – provides support for the conduct of basic and applied agricultural biotechnology research, and development of technologies and products, which will have positive impact on farm yields, income, product quality, climate change resiliency, environmental protection, and global competitiveness of the agriculture sector;
  2. Institutional Capacity Enhancement (ICE) – provides support to agency-members of the DA Agricultural Biotechnology Center and its network of public agencies/offices/units, and DA-accredited research/service institution in developing and strengthening capacities to generate, regulate, manage, and commercialize technologies and products of agricultural biotechnology through upgrading of infrastructure/facility and human resource development projects and activities;
  3. Policy Research and Advocacy (PRA) –provides assistance to influence and strengthen policies in support of agricultural biotechnology development, which includes conduct of ex-ante, feasibility, impact, and other policy-related studies and activities
  4. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) – provides support to information dissemination, stakeholder education, and development communication activities to increase public awareness and understanding of agricultural biotechnology through seminars, campaigns, information materials and other related interventions; and help enhance skills and effective science communication.
